Brighton College (Singapore) expands to cover all grade levels

Providing holistic education that focuses on academic excellence as much as developing confidence, curiosity and kindness among pupils

Brighton College (Singapore) has had a phenomenal success. From only 35 learners when it opened in 2020, its student population has tremendously grown to more than 400 today. The best, however, is yet to come for the pupils of one of Singapore’s best international schools. Originally offering pre-nursery to Year 8, Brighton College (Singapore) is expanding its curriculum to include Year 9 in August 2024 and an additional grade level every year to eventually become an all-through school. This is an excellent opportunity for more students to access the educational institution’s top-notch holistic academic program.

“We’re very proud of the association we have with our UK founding school, which has a lot of input into how we run ours,” says Nick Davies, Head of Brighton College (Singapore). “While the academic success of our pupils will always be our most important educational goal, we’re also looking for opportunities to build confidence, develop their curiosity about the world around them and discover the power of kindness.”

Brighton College (Singapore) stands out with its unique blend of traditional and modern learning approaches. A distinctive feature is the subject ‘The Story of Our Land,’ which fosters responsible citizenship by integrating various humanities classes into one. The curriculum also emphasizes the development of powerful public speakers and encourages scientific collaboration through the school’s makerspaces, labs which nurture the students’ passion for invention. Additionally, Brighton College (Singapore) promotes critical thinking by equipping pupils with the skills to validate information from all sources.

“Our vision is to build a superb all-through school where children feel supported, cared for, and known so they can have a huge amount of success both with their academic and personal lives once they leave us,” says Mr. Davies, who has taught at three senior independent schools in the UK before joining Brighton College (Singapore).
