Tim Jemal, Trustee: I’m especially excited about the District’s expansion of the Advanced Technology & Education Park (ATEP), which is being driven by strong public-private partnerships and close collaboration with industry. These workforce-aligned initiatives create hands-on learning opportunities for students, strengthen regional economic development, and ensure our programs are directly connected to the skills employers need now and in the future.
Terri Rydell, Trustee: SOCCCD’s ongoing investments in modernized facilities, student services, and emerging technologies reflect a commitment to meeting students’ needs today while preparing for the future.
How does SOCCCD connect with and support its students, community partners, and other stakeholders?
Blake Leonard, Student Trustee: As a student, I’ve seen how meaningful it is when student voices are truly heard. SOCCCD actively includes students in conversations and decisions, which strengthens trust and improves the student experience.
Dr. Julianna M. Asperin Barnes, Chancellor: We view SOCCCD as a connector—bringing together students, educators, employers, and community partners. Through collaboration and shared responsibility, we build pathways that strengthen both individual opportunity and our wider community.
