America’s pioneer and premier online private school engages global learners in an education that values them as individuals
While many schools started adopting asynchronous learning only during the pandemic, Laurel Springs School has been doing it for 33 years. America’s pioneer and premier online K-12 educational institution is helping nearly 4,000 athletes, artists, entrepreneurs, neurodivergent learners, and students whose families move a lot to be optimally successful. Despite its reputation as a leader in remote learning, Laurel Springs is also proud of its growing in-person opportunities, combining asynchronous and synchronous approaches to provide students with a robust global community experience.
“Our mission is to engage global learners in an education that values them as individuals – integrating their passions and pursuits into academic and career pathways and fostering inquiry, growth, mastery, purpose, and independence,” says Laurel Springs President Dr. Aileen Hawkins. “We believe that every student has unique interests, goals, talents, and learning preferences, and they benefit the most from an educational experience customized to their journey.”
Committed to building meaningful relationships with students and their families, Laurel Springs offers a challenging and well-rounded curriculum. Its several pathways include the Academy, where learners in grades 6-12 may attend weekly in-person workshops to supplement the asynchronous curriculum and develop relationships with their college counselors as early as middle school. Laurel Springs is also a pioneer among online K-12 schools in offering the Advanced Placement Capstone Program, which prepares students for college-level work.
“Unconstrained by time and space, we continuously modify our curriculum to ensure it remains challenging, and we prepare students well for college and beyond in a global community setting,” Dr. Hawkins says. “Our goal is to provide the best education experience learners can’t get anywhere else.”
